This is a pretty rad track. “High School Art Class,” by Pretty Lights. You can grab all their stuff for free (or donation) here.
This is a super creepy animation by Allison Schulnik. *Shutters*
Sublime is sublime!
This ones for all you coders out there. I’ve finally decided to ditch Dreamweaver. I’ve used it as a text editor for years due to its tight FTP integration and decent color coding and completion, but its a huge bloated piece of junk and I don’t use any of its 1000 pounds of WYSIWYG functionality. After MUCH research I’ve made the move to Sublime. Long story short, it fucking rocks. It takes a little getting used to, but holy smokes am I loving it after getting past the learning curve. Here’s a nifty page highlighting some useful tips and a few cool things you can do with it. I’m already using the SFTP and Subversion plugins to fill a few gaps in functionality that I’ve been used to having integrated in my text editor. I’ve set my theme to Soda-Dark and my color scheme to Tomorrow-Night and am feeling right at home. The code looks beautiful! It’s even got a vi mode if you’re a vi/vim addict and it works on Mac, Win and Nix. Check it out for free and remember to buy a license if you like it as much as I do.
Great song. Good lyrics. Picks me up.
This amazing camera from the future has really piqued my interest! You can essentially forget about manual settings when shooting as everything from focus to depth of field control can be done in post as natively as if it were done in camera. Strange thing is, it doesn’t seem very well oriented towards the stated point and shoot market. I don’t see consumers wanting to monkey around with their images after taking a picture. On the other hand, the professional photography implications of this new light field capturing technology could be something worth keeping an eye on.
Behold Botanicula! A new game from Amanita Design, the makers of the amazing Machinarium. For anyone who hasn’t tried Machinarium, go give it a whirl (for free). I promise you won’t regret it!
Paco Heavy is a friend of mine in Frigiliana. He runs a rock/metal radio station in town and for most of the Costa del sol. He’s a crazy guy and I found out recently that, before his metal days, he was a Spanish karate champion. This photo of him too awesome. He’s the flying dude on the right.
Holy fear mongering in the USA! And the video… who thought it would be a good idea to turn it into a Hollywood espionage thriller complete with tense soundtrack and slow motion spying? Its all entertainment I suppose… Thanks for the heads up on this one Marcus.
I can’t believe I just tuned into the NPR All Songs Considered 24/7 radio station for the first time today. It’s amazing. Go listen!
Here’s a deeper look at the origins and meaning of Captain America as well as a critical analysis of the film’s politics and historical whitewashing. I can’t wait to see it, I love me a good superhero movie as much as the next guy, but I always knew it would be Captain America light… inoffensive and entertaining and not much more.
